Filming in the streets of Tacoma

It was truly a run n gun kinda day. R6 on the DJI RS3 gimbal, two dji mic kits, 3 lavs and a splitter.

We filmed real-life scenarios with Andy, the owner of Jumpstart Mastery and his team, Dan and Candis. Since this was my first time filming like this, I decided to capture the scenes from multiple different angles so I had something to cut up in post. It was a hybrid of making a movie and documentary. The challenge was, we were instructing on V.D.S.P, a sequence of verbs to get someone to do what we want in a non offensive way. No two situations are the same so repeating the lines exactly the same was near impossible but we got close. In post I was able to take bits and pieces from different takes and make it work. Next time I would take separate takes from each step they were training. V, make a take. D, make a take. S, make a take and the same for P. I’ve found this method produces the most genuine negotiation results since it would be real to life. They almost never repeat the same line since every scenario is different. I’m learning that sometimes it’s best to go with the flow instead of controlling every detail but other times we need some structure.
